What is solid surface?

Acrylic solid surfaces are non-porous, low maintenance surfaces suitable for domestic and commercial environments. Lengths can be joined virtually seamlessly, giving a beautiful and luxurious look and feel.

As well as the beautiful aesthetics another major benefit of solid surfaces is that they are non-porous. Marks and stains stay on the surface and can easily be removed. They are also highly resistant to bacteria making them very hygienic. The worktops can be scrubbed and bleached without any harm, and most light wear and tear marks can be polished out with household abrasive cleaners.

If you do somehow manage to scratch or even chip your solid surface worktops. They can be easily repaired by using a sanding pads or by using an orbital sander, and giving the surface top a light sanding. This also means if your solid surface worktops are looking a little tired after a few years of being installed, they can be re-sanded to look brand new again which is a benefit that Granite and Quartz cannot not provide.

The material used to create these products is manufactured from at least 66% natural minerals, blended with polymer resins to make them even stronger and more resilient than the solid natural stone from which they are produced. This material is incredibly versatile, through a special process the worktops can be shaped, joined and formed into a variety of shapes and designs. Anything from a sophisticated, traditional, rustic, elegantly sleek, modern or high-tech appearance can be created. Can be combined with countless combinations of upstands, splashbacks, downturns, edgings, and return ends. Sinks and bowls made of the same material can be integrated into the top for a solid look. The material can also be engraved and amazing effects can be created from translucent colours for highly personalised appearances.
